POS Accessory Setup Flow

A new guided setup flow for POS accessories — receipt printers, barcode scanners, and card readers. Merchants no longer need to navigate Bluetooth settings or guess which device to pair. Accessory setup was one of the top drivers of support calls, and this flow eliminates the guesswork with auto-detection, clear pairing steps, and built-in hardware verification.

Why This Matters

  • Self-serve setup — merchants can pair accessories on their own without calling support
  • Fewer support calls — guided instructions and troubleshooting tips resolve most issues in-app
  • Faster time to first transaction — hardware is ready to go in minutes, not hours
  • Works with all supported accessories — one consistent flow for printers, scanners, and readers

What's New

  • 1Introduced a step-by-step onboarding flow for each accessory type
  • 2Added auto-detection of nearby accessories so merchants don't have to manually search or enter device names
  • 3Built in a test print/scan confirmation step so merchants know the accessory is working before they move on
  • 4Launched an accessory status dashboard showing connection state, battery level, and last-used time
  • 5Included built-in troubleshooting tips for common pairing and connectivity issues
  • 6Include log Accessory Report Start for a connected accessory. These logs appear as part of the device diagnostics and are intended to help Customer Support (CAS) and development teams troubleshoot issues, monitor performance, and ensure proper accessory integration.
