AI Quick Link Suggestions in Commerce Home Search

Search on the Commerce Home dashboard now uses AI to suggest quick links based on what merchants type — not just orders, transactions, and products. An A/B experiment showed a 126% increase in search success rate, more than doubling the percentage of merchants who find what they're looking for.

Why This Matters

  • More than 2x search success — merchants find the right page, setting, or tool significantly more often (10.98% vs 4.85% success rate)
  • Broader search scope — search now surfaces quick links to pages across all of Commerce Home, not just orders and products
  • Fewer support calls — merchants who can find what they need through search don't need to call Care for navigation help
  • Data-driven roadmap input — search queries reveal what merchants are actually looking for, informing future investment in common pain points like refunds, receipts, and 1099 forms

What's New

  • 1Expanded search with AI-powered semantic matching that suggests relevant quick links based on the merchant's query
  • 2Search now covers all Commerce Home pages — not just orders, transactions, and products
  • 3Added category pills (Products, Orders, Transactions) below the search box for quick filtering
  • 4Validated via A/B experiment (2/24–3/15, 840 merchants, 50/50 split) — statistically significant win on search success and total searches
  • 5Search usage increased 30% (6.07 vs 4.66 searches per user), indicating merchants find the expanded search more useful and are engaging with it more

Known Limitations

  • Quick link suggestions are based on page titles and routes — deeper content-level search (e.g., finding a specific setting within a page) is planned for a future iteration
  • Common search terms like refunds, receipts, and 1099 forms have been identified as opportunities for more targeted improvements
